Smithfield Memorial Park

Located just south of Gawler is the large Smithfield Memorial Park and includes Pilyu Yarta (the Aboriginal term meaning 'peaceful ground').


Pilyu Yarta Natural Burial Ground


A natural bush like setting to the western edge of Smithfield Memorial Park.  With graves located within the existing an newly planted vegetation, this burial ground is a quiet more rural feeling alternative.  A large native flower entrance with natives such as the Sturt Desert Pea growing welcome visitors.

Pear Tree Grove

Pear Tree Grove is located next to the Mausoleum at Smithfield Memorial Park.  Ornamental Pear Trees are planted in a watered lawn area which is surrounded by the local native vegetation. All graves surround a tree with the capacity of three per grave plus 10 cremated remains placed.

Beam Section

The Beam Section have upright monuments mounted on a long concrete beam. Height and width restrictions apply. The graves are dug in front of the beam as can be seen in the image.
